Traditional braces use small brackets bonded to your teeth and a thin archwire to apply gentle, sustained pressure that moves teeth into ideal position over time. They've been refined over decades and remain the most predictable orthodontic option available.
Modern brackets are smaller, smoother, and far less noticeable than the metal mouthfuls of decades past. Treatment times have also dropped — many cases are now finished in 12–18 months thanks to better wires, lower-friction brackets, and more precise treatment planning.
Braces shine for complex cases: severe crowding, large bite discrepancies, impacted canines, and cases that need precise root control. If you want certainty, this is still it.

Bracket placement
We bond brackets to each tooth and thread the archwire — about an hour, no needles, no discomfort.
Adjustment visits
Every 4–8 weeks, we change wires and tighten as needed. Most appointments are 15–30 minutes.
Removal & retention
When teeth are in place, we remove the brackets and fit a retainer to keep them there. Retainers are critical — they protect the result you worked for.

How long will I need braces?
Most cases finish in 12–24 months. Simple cases can be done in 6–12 months; very complex ones may take 30 months. We'll give you an honest estimate at consultation.
Do braces hurt?
Mild soreness for 2–4 days after placement and after each adjustment is normal. Most patients describe it as 'noticeable but not bad' — over-the-counter pain relief handles it.
Am I too old for braces?
No. Adult orthodontics is now common — about a third of orthodontic patients are over 18. Healthy teeth and gums move at any age.
Braces vs. Invisalign?
Braces are more powerful for complex movements and a bit cheaper. Invisalign is more discreet, removable, and easier to clean. We'll honestly recommend which suits your case best.
